I grew up reading my parents medical textbooks and learning from them what would occur in their careers as registered nurses at numerous hospitals- working different floors and specializing in different areas of care.
It wasn’t until much later that I started to realize the dysfunction within the medical system and began pursuing what felt true to me in health and healing.
Upon studying all different formats of care from the allopathic western medicine business model to preventative, functional, and traditional practices from the east like Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine- I realized there was one undeniable commonality. And that was, the body knows what it’s doing.
Specifically, when I discovered Germanic New Medicine in the last few years- I was shocked by how it was like a blueprint of all the illness I’d seen and personally experienced as well as it’s resolution (or lack thereof).
Now as I’ve dove even deeper into Traditional Chinese Medicine- I feel the same way.
I see how where I spent numerous years of my life in and out of a wide range of different practitioner’s care- I simply needed radical change in my environment (internal and external) and focused support on the organ associated with the driving emotions in my life at that time.
The anger I wasn’t processing was taken on by my liver (thank you liver).
I’ve only just recently reclaimed this anger in the last few years, too.
The truth is- every emotion that goes unprocessed and properly moved through the body gets stored in the body.
It’s a truly miraculous adaptation but it’s also journey in itself to access, retrieve, and release long forgotten emotion and conflict.
No one can tell you how to do the shadow work or how to reconnect with the emotional and energetic aspects of the body.
Seriously. That is for you to take the education you receive and apply. But no one can ever do this part for us.
That’s where I think the realization that it really is all up to us, and only us, can occur.
Every choice we make and how we show up in life and how we approach each day determines our health.
Not genetics.
Not the quality of care you receive from a variety of physicians and specialists.
Not anything.
It’s been a journey to the clarity surrounding the health I now experience. After years of personal experience with myself, my family, and many, many others that have been placed on my path along the way- I have only seen what I have read in the thousands of hours of research and curiosity.
But it’s never one thing or one practice. I see similar patterns throughout all different practices and the the most simple things seem to be true. The most basic commonalities- love, energy, sunlight, nourishment exist in all different facets of research and traditional practices.
We are not separate from nature by any means. We are flesh and bone of this Earth- just like an animal. We are similar in our biological needs and function. There is such a thing as too much artificial light and fake food isn’t going to bode well with the body.
But do you know what does?
The rhythm of the sun. Interacting with nature.
Honoring our own true nature.
