As we ease into the slowness and restfulness of winter- nature invites us to follow its cue.
But reducing the to-do’s can feel impossible in today’s world and economy.
We can still honor winter and its vital slowdown and rest by reframing the to-dos we can’t change and reconnecting with the magic of why we started them in the first place.
Realigning with a sense of purpose alone is energizing.
Embrace the season and how you feel in each one.
If you feel tired in the winter- you could be striving when it might be more aligned to embrace strategizing or simplifying.
We can also feel tired in other seasons if we don’t get the slowdown and rest we need in the winter.
You don’t have to jump or give everything your all, all year long.
It’s actually counterintuitive.
Look how nature slows, prepares, and adapts to each changing season- always correct and always on time- never pushing or forcing.
We can learn so much from nature.
(And the Indigenous people who have always had a deeper relationship with and understanding of this all.)
A good example of this is how earthing products have become the latest trend but this is something that was understood long before by Indigenous people. Moccasins are THE best type of naturally conductive footwear. A lot of the things being marketed and sold in the health and wellness world are just modern day impersonations of long-standing Indigenous wisdom, craftsmanship, and understanding of our natural & energetic world.
So I invite you to engage with a deeper sense of rest- you’ve accomplished another whole year, afterall.
To do put down what you can, refining things later-
Dispelling your sense of urgency (the best you can)
Doing what needs to be done with a sense of purpose and slowness-
Knowing that this irreplacable moment and transition between seasons will soon too continue to move in the grander rhythm-
And even in stress we can be deeply attuned, savoring, and staying in seasonal rhythm and gratitude.
What we can’t change now can still be viewed (and moved) simply by taking a different approach.
So what if we slow down?
We might end up going faster-
with intention, surrender and the space to reconnect to the energy within our “WHY”.
“to shine through and dispel the gloom. Work is a way of engaging with the world. Work is also love and what you give to others. Your to-do list might feel like hell some days, but the light of consciousness wants to illuminate your work as well as your meditation practice.” – Lorin Roche, The Radiance Sutras
Find the balance that suits you this season- embracing slowness, surrender, and possibly even exploring the oh-so-subtle call to go inward.
