Thank you for creating art. Thank you for shining you light. Thank you for sharing your darkness. Thank you for existing at the same time as me- and effectively narrating and consoling my exuberant and curious youth then my confusing and disorienting journey into now. You have always made sense, even when absolutely nothing else did. Your words have slipped through rooms where I never expected to be, and serenaded me in even darker place when I didn’t even want to be. You are relatable darkness and pure encompassing light. Thank you for leading me so far on my journey. I will always return to you, your music, you legacy, lessons, and familiar love. I will walk down old streets, valleys, and roads again and again and forever through your music. I will walk new ones to it, too. Each time I return, lyrics resonate deeper and I am always left in awe at the synchronicity and magic that is Mac Miller.

All the things I wanted to tell you- and all I think I managed to say was “I love you.”- which in hindsight, is the most honest and eloquent thing I could have ever said. I love you. I do.

Thank you. Happy birthday.
